“I came to Two Generations looking forward to Homeshare in order that I find a family in the uk. And that is exactly what I found. I highly recommend home sharing.”

Jorge, Homesharer, London

Norman was 91 when he contacted us looking for some companionship and help with cooking. We matched him with Jorge who had a background in pharmacy and a shared interest with Norman in politics.

How Does It Work?

After getting to know you through our application process, we will match you with a householder who suits you best and is looking for the type of support you are able to offer. Our process includes DBS checks and referencing. You will typically provide between 10 and 20 hours a week of support to the householder, depending on what you are able to offer.

Requirements

Homeshare is most suitable for those who genuinely enjoy helping others and prefer to be home in the evenings.

You need to:

  • Have the right to live in the UK
  • Be at least 21
  • Have no criminal record
  • Be willing to give on average 40 hours per month of help
  • Provide 2 references
  • Are preferably able to commit to a minimum 12 month period
  • Spend most evenings during the week at home
  • Provide ID, proof of current address and proof you can afford £349 monthly. These are used as part of our Enhanced DBS check.

At present we do not accept joint applications. Homesharers who require other people to stay over will be assessed on a case by case basis. If you are in a relationship, please consider this when applying.

“Home sharing really helps with affordability in London. It has also been a great experience to learn from the older generation and hear about how life has changed so greatly over the years.”

Joshua, Homesharer, Fulham.

Robin, aged 87 was matched with his sharer Joshua, 28. Robin is a successful writer, working on his third book. He wanted someone to help prepare and share evening meals, while also offering some practical support in his flat. The pair get on extremely well and have featured on BBC Radio advocating  Two Generations and Homeshare.

“For over a year, it has been a privilege and deeply enriching experience to live with her. She has made a huge impact on my life. I hold her in the same highest regard as my own family.”

Charles, Homesharer, Oxford

Lally, 70, had recently lost her husband after being his primary caregiver and was finding it hard adjusting to being on her own. Her family were concerned she was lonely and wanted to know she had some support and companionship at home. We matched her with Charles, 25 who was looking for a comfortable home environment and was happy to offer some company and practical help.

“Going with Two Generations has been the best decision for me, I've found a warm homely environment along with a welcoming family and I have no qualms recommending them, they have been professional all the way through and I was matched to a homeowner quickly.”

Thandi, Homesharer, London
